Star Wars themed Cupcakes at Rancho Obi-Wan

One of my coolest gigs to date was for a wrap party at Rancho Obi-Wan this month. To my surprise there was already an amazing cupcake stand in the form of a Tie Fighter, left over from a past Cupcake Wars competition. If you haven't heard of this amazing place, it is the home of the largest personal collection of Star Wars Memorabilia. My husband, a true Star Wars fan and I were geeking out surrounded by walls and walls of costumes, helmets, toys, figurines and props from the movies.

Here are some fun pictures. My husband is posing with a real on set costume from Empire and Jedi.

Cake Coquette in The Knot Northern California Spring/Summer 2015 Issue

It is so exciting to have two cakes featured in the new issue of The Knot Northern California. I had the pleasure to work with one of my favorite photographers Janae Shields (janaeshields.com) on Jennifer and Eric's wedding and Michelle Barrionuevo-Mazinni, event designer (mbweddingdesigns.com)for Niki and Alan's wedding.

Firefox 40th Anniversary 3-D Globe Cake

This globe, which was a small feat of engineering, was 26" in diameter. It was huge, and even though only the top quarter was edible (which was easily over 100 servings) it still weighed a ton. The globe was for Firefox's 40th anniversary at thier headquarters in Mountainview. I heard there was a ceremonial cake cutting by the Firefox mascot, but that noone wanted to cut into the cake..until the next day!

An Elegant Cake for 350

No back up sheet cake for this couple. This is what a cake for 350 looks like. We used rhinestone bands, broaches and silver pearls to achieve the bling for the cake.

A Painted Cake

Although people seek me out for my piping techniques, I do get requests for cakes with painted on designs. I loved how this one came out.
This cake was iced in buttercream and layered with a painted San Francisco cityscape and hand painted Victorian houses made of fondant.

Ghirardelli Chocolate Miniature San Francisco Skyline Display

Ghirardelli Chocolate delivered over a hundred pounds of chocolate to me this week to create this chocolate display for their Fancy Food Show after-party. I had to unwrap A LOT all of their iconic mini chocolate squares to create this San Francisco skyline. But it was worth it and so much fun. I should be on display for a while at the Market Place in Ghirardelli Square.

Dress inspired Wedding Cake- Olympic Club, San Francisco

I'm in love with this wedding cake from early October at the Olympic Club in San Francisco. This fondant covered cake was adorned with sugar flowers to resemble the lace and fabric flowers covering the brides dress. Dress details are always my favorite inspiration.
